46734 (2024). Ingrid Leary to the Minister for Mental Health: Does he agree with Deb Fraser, co-chair of the National Committee for Addiction Treatment, that the new innovation fund is too small to support all the services needing money at a time when many Kiwis had complex addiction issues, and if not why not?

Hon Matt Doocey: I acknowledge there is pressure across the Mental Health and Addiction system, and addressing these pressures has been one of my key priorities since becoming Minister. The Ministry of Health and Health New Zealand have a work programme aligned with these priorities which they report on. The innovation fund is one part of Health New Zealand’s work programme. It is about supporting innovative mental health and addiction community providers to support more New Zealanders.
