Ingrid Leary to the Minister for Mental Health: Does he agree with NZ Drug Foundation CEO Sarah Helm that philanthropic organisations generally don’t want to have "anything to do with anything that should be health funded” therefore negating “any opportunity for us to go there” and if not, why not?

Hon Matt Doocey: I am advised that these comments were in relation to the recently announced Mental Health and Addiction Community Sector Innovation Fund. I am further advised that this fund will support new and innovative initiatives that are focussed on increasing access to better mental health and addiction support and that the fund was inspired after listening to grassroot organisations who are already delivering, these organisations now have the opportunity to be supported by Government to scale up.
