46724 (2025). Ingrid Leary to the Minister for Mental Health: Do Māori and Pacific peoples have higher needs, than other ethnic groups, with eating issues and eating disorders, and, if so, in what ways, and is work underway to address this need?

Hon Matt Doocey: I am advised that Health New Zealand is in contract with Whāraurau to develop cultural competency around eating disorders in relation to access to treatment for Māori and Pacific peoples. I am further advised that resources and trainings have been redeveloped to integrate perspectives from Māori. Whāraurau will be organising and facilitating pacific hui to understand and deliver on growth and development of cultural competency for these communities.
