46575 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Health: Was Dr Frances Hughes given an exemption to the Cabinet Fees Framework when they were appointed to the Board of Health New Zealand; if so, by what percentage are they being paid above the Cabinet Fees Framework?

Hon Simeon Brown: The daily fees for the Health New Zealand Board remain unchanged between the 2022/23 board and the current board. There is an exception in place that allows board members of Health New Zealand to be paid a daily rate of $1,750 per day. As part of our focus on putting patients first and ensuring all New Zealanders have access to timely, quality healthcare, this reflects the demands of the role and responsibility for governing an organisation that is the single largest employer in New Zealand.
