46474 (2024). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: What assessments or audits, if any, have been conducted on the infrastructure of Corrections Facilities since becoming Minister of Corrections?
Hon Mark Mitchell: Corrections’ network of physical assets is large and complex. In addition to prisons, it includes community corrections sites, administrative offices, and the infrastructure (including significant electronic security assets) required to support these facilities.
I am advised that various assessments of infrastructure and other assets are routinely undertaken as part of Corrections’ asset stewardship and asset management responsibilities and to ensure that infrastructure is available, fit for purpose, and enables frontline staff to deliver services safely and effectively. These include regular site-based assessments to enable planned asset replacements, specific ongoing programmes of work such as assessing water infrastructure to support investment in renewals, assessment of assets to deliver health services, and work to ensure regulatory compliance.
