46461 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Housing: What is the budget, if any, on the Minister's department's if any, on the carbon neutral government programme for this current financial year (1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025)?

Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development’s budget for the carbon neutral government programme for 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025 is the same as FY 2023/24. I am also advised that while Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities does not specifically budget for the Carbon Neutral Government Programme (CNGP). For the 2024/25 period, Kāinga Ora has forecast a spend of $273,000 for activities related to the CNGP. This spend will be split between emissions reporting ($87,000), emissions inventory audit ($54,000) and fleet electrification and optimisation ($123,000). The Travel Optimisation project will also deliver an estimated budget reduction of $13 million CAPEX for FY24/25 and $2.3 million OPEX in FY24/25 increasing to $6.4 million OPEX saving from FY25/26. This is a result of electrifying, reducing, and shifting the Kāinga Ora fleet to a shared pool model.
