46454 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Housing: What was the budget and how much was spent, if any, on the Minister's department's if any, on the carbon neutral government programme from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024?

Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised that $15,000 was budgeted, and $13,398 was spent, by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development on the carbon neutral government programme from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024. I am also advised that while Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities does not specifically budget for the Carbon Neutral Government Programme (CNGP), it had a total spend for FY23/24 of $412,000 for activities related to the CNGP. This spend was split between emissions reporting ($104,000), emissions inventory audit ($58,000) and fleet electrification and optimisation ($250,000). The Kāinga Ora Travel Optimisation project has produced cost savings of $1.8m through reduction of work-related staff travel as of February FY24. This is a result of electrifying, reducing, and shifting the Kāinga Ora fleet to a shared pool model.
