46362 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Education: What was the budget and how much was spent, if any, on the Minister's department's if any, on the carbon neutral government programme from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised that the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) budgeted $5,549,881 for the Carbon Neutral Government Programme in the 2023/24 financial year. As at 30 June 2024, $5,112,112 has been spent by the Ministry, with $2,150,047 received in extra funding applications, approved by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority, to support the installation of electric vehicle chargers and the leasing of electric vehicles. In 2023/24, the Education Review Office budgeted $10,000 for the Carbon Neutral Government Programme and spent $12,124. The New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) does not budget separately for the Carbon Neutral Government programme. NZQA’s carbon neutral expenditure in 2023/24 of $13,000 relates to the Toitū audit and annual membership fees.
