46122 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter January to March 2024 to ‘Support the Government’s planning for future investments in pay equity and pay parity to ensure a fair health workforce environment’ under section 1.2 ‘Strengthening workforce whānau’ within Te Whatu Ora’s Te Pae Tata: Interim New Zealand Health Plan 2022?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised by Health New Zealand that it has resolved all pay equity claims with its employed workforce where sex-based undervaluation has been established. This has resulted in the resolution of around 74,000 claims. I am further advised that tranche 2 pay disparity funding has been allocated across eligible funded sector employers and passed on to their eligible nursing and kaiāwhina employees, with effect from 1 July 2023.
