46063 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter January to March 2024 toward the action ‘Invest in research for healthy futures for Māori’, under ‘Strategic Priority 1: Invest in excellent health research that addresses the health needs of all New Zealanders’ within the Ministry of Health’s New Zealand Health Research Strategy 2017 – 2027?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the quarter January to March 2024, the Health Research Council (HRC) assessed Māori Health Research Emerging Leader Fellowships and notified the four recipients of their awards. I am further advised that during this quarter the Ministry of Health (the Ministry) assessed its first round of applications to its new research and evaluation fund. This fund is aligned to key health strategy priorities, and supports evidence-informed policy and decision-making within the Ministry.
