Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter January to March 2024 toward the action ‘Strengthen the clinical research environment and health services research’, under ‘Strategic Priority 2: Create a vibrant research environment in the health sector’ within the Ministry of Health’s New Zealand Health Research Strategy 2017 – 2027?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the quarter January to March 2024, the Ministry of Health and Health NZ have been working in collaboration to strengthen clinical trials and health research across Health NZ and the wider health sector. I am further advised that during this quarter, Health NZ formally established a National Research Office group to bring together all those working in the research assessment and approval process across the country.
