46050 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter (January to March 2024) on the action area ‘Support healthy policies at national, regional and local levels that prevent and minimise gambling harm’ under ‘Objective 3: Strengthen leadership and accountability to achieve equity’ within the Ministry of Health’s Strategy to Prevent and Minimise Gambling Harm 2022/23 to 2024/25?
Hon Matt Doocey: I am advised that during the January to March 2024 quarter, Health New Zealand worked closely with three contracted service providers to establish a range of new public health and intervention services focused on preventing and minimising gambling harm. The three providers' contracts also cover activities, including community engagement, to support the development and implementation policies at national, regional, and local levels. I am further advised that during the quarter, Health NZ also worked with the Māori Health Authority to coordinate the selection of Hauora Māori providers to deliver similar services for Māori.
