45986 (2024). Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister of Internal Affairs: What actions, if any, has the Minister taken to protect children online from harm, after the meeting with Make Sense on April 11 2024?

Hon Brooke van Velden: In June I announced the Department was making a significant upgrade to their Digital Child Exploitation Filtering System, which blocks access to websites known to host child sexual abuse material, by incorporating the Internet Watch Foundation’s up-to-date list of websites. The Government’s online safety website for children and young people, Keep It Real Online, is also continuously being updated with resources on how to manage online harms. The Petitions Committee is currently considering the Petition of Holly Brooker (of the Makes Sense campaign).
