45970 (2024). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: What specific training, if any, were the staff implementing the pilot military-style academy at Te Au rere a te Tonga provided, listed by skill or competency and duration of training?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised prior to commencing the Military-style Academy Pilot all staff completed a two-week training hosted by New Zealand Defence Force at the Youth Development Unit in Trentham. Additional training was held the week prior to 29 July 2024. Staff completed over 30 sessions covering a range of military-style activities, risk management and Oranga Tamariki practice.
