45878 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: Has the prevalence of HIV in Fiji reaching 1% changed health policy or practice for Fijian RSE workers?
Hon Simeon Brown: As the Member will be aware, HIV treatment is free for everyone in New Zealand, including RSE workers. I am advised that as part of our focus on putting patients first and ensuring all New Zealanders have access to timely, quality healthcare, in response to the HIV outbreak in Fiji, Health NZ distributed a Health Advisory notifying healthcare providers of the outbreak and prompting them to offer opportunistic HIV testing and prevention advice to anyone with HIV clinical indicator conditions.
