45846 (2025). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Health: How many cardiothoracic surgeries have been postponed in 2025 due to ICU bed shortages at Christchurch Hospital, if any, and what has been the median delay?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that 13 cardiothoracic surgeries have been postponed in 2025 as of 29 September, with a median delay of 2 days. I note this is an improvement on 2022, when 37 cardiothoracic surgeries were postponed due to ICU bed shortages, with a median delay of 4 days.
