45823 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: What assessment, if any, has the Ministry undertaken of the potential impact on students’ educational pathways, including access to university, vocational pathways, and leadership opportunities, following the decision to make outdoor education a Vocational Education and Training subject on the new general subject list, and what was the Ministry's advice, if any?

Hon Erica Stanford: Outdoor Education was included as an industry-led subject to reflect its vocational focus and alignment with industry-specific pathways to tertiary study and employment. Industry-led subjects will sit alongside Ministry-led subjects and students will be able to pursue both to achieve a single qualification. This is also my response to written parliamentary question 45826 (2025).
