Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: What academic experts, teachers with doctoral or postgraduate experience in Outdoor Education, or other specialists in the field, if any, were consulted with prior to the decision to make outdoor education a Vocational Education and Training subject on the new general subject list; of those consulted, who, and what were the main findings or recommendations provided?

Hon Erica Stanford: There was no open consultation on the Phase | Tūārere 5 curriculum subjects. It was informed by engagement with the Ministry of Education Coherence Group and the Minister’s NCEA Professional Advisory Group, followed by targeted consultation with subject associations. This is also my response to written parliamentary question 45825 (2025).
