45820 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: Was student voice or the Vision for Young people considered regarding the decision to make outdoor education a Vocational Education and Training subject on the new general subject list; if so, what feedback, if any, was received?

Hon Erica Stanford: The Vision for Young People (VFYP) did not directly inform the decision to make Outdoor Education an industry-led subject. However, the Ministry’s advice on the Years 11-13 subjects reflects the needs and aspirations of students across Aotearoa New Zealand that are represented in the VFYP.
