45774 (2025). Hon Marama Davidson to the Minister of Corrections: Displayed by number and percentage, as at 30 July 2025, how many of 10,762 people in custody, if any, broken down by male and female, have indicated that they are Pasifika, regardless of whether it is their primary ethnicity or not?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that of the 10,762 unique individuals in prison as at 31 July 2025, there were 75 women, or 9.6 percent of the female population, and 1,415 men, or 15.7 percent of the male population, who reported one or more ethnicities under the Pasifika grouping. This equates to 13.8% of the total prison population identifying as Pasifika.
