45773 (2025). Hon Marama Davidson to the Minister of Corrections: Does the proportion of a demographic group in prison impact decision making around development, location, size, and funding of targeted or demographic-based approaches, programmes, and initiatives across corrections and in prisons (e.g., tikanga Māori programmes or women's specific rehabilitation)?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Corrections considers the demographics of the prison population in planning service provision and resourcing across the network. I am further advised that Corrections continues to optimise its services to ensure that the needs of the population are being met. This includes ongoing efforts to provide rehabilitation and reintegration services that are responsive to the needs of the people accessing them, including Māori, people with disabilities, women, young people, and other demographics.
