45770 (2025). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: How many, if any, of the nearly 3500 state homes in projects that Kāinga Ora cancelled earlier this year were expected to cost $1 million or more and where were those homes located?

Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that in June 2025 it announced the outcome of its social housing pipeline review. Of the 212 projects reviewed, 129 failed to meet the financial metrics. More information regarding the review, including the list of projects and addresses, is available on the Kainga Ora website: https://kaingaora.govt.nz/en_NZ/news/kainga-ora-takes-next-step-in-financial-reset/ To determine the number of homes that were forecast to cost $1 million or more would require Kāinga Ora to review each project brief. In accordance with Speaker’s Ruling 210/6, I consider that the time and expense of answering this part of Member’s question is not in the public interest.
