Hon Erica Stanford: Although it was included on the 2021 NCEA subject list, Food and Nutrition was not fully developed or implemented and is not a current NCEA subject. Knowledge about nutrition and food-based product design is best incorporated into the Health Education and Materials and Processing Technology subject curricula for Years 11-13, respectively. Practical knowledge and skills, such as food preparation, is intended to be covered in the Hospitality industry-led subject.
