45509 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: How, if at all, does the Oranga Tamariki Child Protection Investigation Unit operate independently from Oranga Tamariki?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised by Oranga Tamariki that the Child Protection Investigation Unit reports directly to the Acting Chief Executive. The Unit is not part of any decision-making group, site, region or service line and is separate from existing review process and internal investigations.
