45499 (2025). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister of Education: Was the Minister aware of the Ministry’s proposed removal of Agricultural and Horticultural Science from the subject list prior to its release on 11 September 2025; if so, why did she not intervene earlier?

Hon Erica Stanford: I was aware of the Ministry’s advice to include agricultural and horticultural science as an industry-led Primary Industry subject. I based my decisions on the advice of my officials; however, in this case I needed to ask the Ministry to review their advice. I acted immediately when I became aware of the sector’s concerns.
