Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: What was the location of each of the homes of the 227 Kāinga Ora tenants referred to in a New Zealand Herald article on 15 September 2025 where people were asked to voluntarily leave their homes in the past year due to the homes being put on the market and which were being sold because they were not in the right location?

Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that the specific reason for divestment for each property is held on the individual property file, and in order to respond to this question staff would need to reconcile over 200 files. In accordance with Speaker’s Ruling 210/6, I consider that the time and expense of answering this part of Member’s question is not in the public interest.
