45125 (2025). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Does the Minister agree with the scam victim who said, in the 16 September 2025 Herald article, the rules were stacked against scam victims “and until that changes, nothing’s going to happen”?

Hon Scott Simpson: Changes are underway to better protect people from scams. This includes establishing the New Zealand Anti-Scam Alliance in July, which brings together government, banks, telecommunications companies, digital platforms and non-profits in a unified alliance that seeks to reduce the number of Kiwis falling victim to online financial scams.
