45124 (2025). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: What action, if any, has the Minister taken to force META to ensure its financial advertisers in New Zealand are verified, as it is the case in Australia?

Hon Scott Simpson: I have asked Meta, and other digital platforms, to agree to an industry code of conduct to better protect their customers from scams, like they have in Australia. This follows an open letter from my predecessor in December 2024. The code requirements in Australia include financial services verification, and I expect that same level of protection here.
