44852 (2024). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister of Defence: How many, if any, Defence Force staff will be involved in the Military-Style Academy, listed by their job title, their role in the Military-Style Academy, where they will be situated, and which agency will pay for the time they work on the Military-Style Academy?
Hon Judith Collins: Oranga Tamariki (OT) have always been the lead agency on the military-style academy (MSA) pilot programme. However, the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) has provided support to OT in developing the syllabus for the MSAs, which draws heavily on the Limited Service Volunteer (LSV) syllabus. The NZDF has also run training for OT personnel who are staffing the facility. This training involved about 30 NZDF personnel. The NZDF is also involved at a governance level through a senior NZDF officer who represents the Defence Force on a board chaired by a senior OT staff member.
