44766 (2024). Ingrid Leary to the Minister for Mental Health: Why will the coming Greymouth mental health unit have six beds rather than the nine beds in the current Manaakitanga Unit?

Hon Matt Doocey: I am advised that Health New Zealand has carried out a demographic-driven projection of bed nights using current utilisation data and population projections (by ethnicity, age, gender). Provision of six beds meets the 2028 baseline demand at an average occupancy of 75 percent.
