Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Does the Minister agree with Consumer New Zealand that the exclusion of online payments in the surcharge ban "is disappointing because your flight or accommodation booking or any other online purchases could still attract a surcharge"?

Hon Scott Simpson: No. The Governments ban will include in-person transactions in the first instance, and there will be scope to look into online surcharges in future. These charges are more complex and require further policy work.
