44668 (2024). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: How many applications, if any, have been made to the Family Court for a Compulsory Treatment Order (CTO) since 27 November 2023, by prison for remand and sentenced prisoners?

Hon Mark Mitchell: Corrections does not make applications for Compulsory Treatment Orders for people in prison. In accordance with the Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 1992, only Responsible Clinicians can make applications for Compulsory Treatment Orders, such as those employed by Te Whatu Ora, not Corrections.
