44618 (2024). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister of Climate Change: What actions, if any, listed by name, under the First Emissions Reduction Plan were discontinued by this Government and were modelled in terms of impacts on New Zealand's ability to achieve its emissions budgets; and what did this modelling show for each of these actions?
Hon Simon Watts: Where actions in the first Emissions Reduction Plan that were discontinued had direct abatement impacts, the impact on projections have been modelled in the 2024 interim projections provided in the discussion document on the second Emissions Reduction Plan. These are actions associated with the delay to agricultural pricing, removal of the clean car discount, and removing the GIDI fund. As outlined in that discussion document, the interim projections indicate we remain on track to achieve the first and second emissions budgets, even when accounting for the impact of the discontinued actions. I refer the member to material already released by agencies and the Treasury that relate to modelling of those specific policies. Background documents that informed the content in the ERP2 discussion document relating to amending the first ERP are being prepared for release shortly.
