44615 (2024). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Police: How many individuals have been removed from the National Gang List between May 2024 and June 2024, and what was the reason for their removal?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I refer the Member to the attached table which shows the count of all removals from the National Gang List (NGL) since December 2023. Between March and July 2024, Police underwent a national project to review all gang membership records that had not been amended since the launch of NIA’s gang node. During this audit hundreds of individuals were assessed as no longer meeting all criteria for NGL inclusion, leading to their removal. A review of this kind last occurred between October 2021 and February 2022. This review was not comprehensive, hence this further review. The NGL was not produced for April or May while the GHIC were investing resources to support districts with this review. The most recent NGL prior to June was February, which has been provided with June and July for comparison.
