Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Does he agree with Newsroom's characterisation of the written feedback the Minister received about the Government's surcharge ban that 28 out of 33 submissions were "scathing", with "a number of people saying they were National voters who were feeling disillusioned or committed to no longer voting for the National Party again"?

Hon Scott Simpson: I have received a range of feedback on the bill to ban surcharging. Much of this has been extremely positive, but I accept that the subsection of emails released to Hon Webb was largely negative. As I mentioned however, this is only a very small part of the wider feedback received and I would encourage the member to look at media coverage, social media and ask her constituents what they think of the ban.
