44415 (2025). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Why does the Government's plan to ban surcharges not extend to online purchases such as airline, event and movie tickets?

Hon Scott Simpson: The Governments ban will include in-person transactions in the first instance, and there will be scope to look into online surcharges in future. These charges are more complex and require further policy work.
