Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What actions, if any, have been taken in the quarter (January to March 2024) to implement the recommendation ‘Work with various expert groups to ensure clarity of opportunities in primary care’ as part of Te Whatu Ora Planned Care Taskforce Reset and Restore Plan?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the January to March 2024 quarter, Health New Zealand worked to ensure primary care was a key part of developing better pathways and process for patients. Examples are the patient communications project, FIT for Symptomatic, bariatric, and MSK pathway. I am further advised that Health NZ's clinical leadership meets regularly with groups such as GPNZ to ensure there is a good dialogue and understanding of where opportunities exist.
