Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What actions, if any, have been taken in the quarter (January to March 2024) to implement the recommendation ‘Consider the role of orthopaedic physiotherapy assessment’ as part of Te Whatu Ora Planned Care Taskforce Reset and Restore Plan?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised during the January to March 2024 quarter, the national hospital-based Musculoskeletal (MSK) pathway and national competencies were agreed. This included the establishment of new units to acknowledge the work of physiotherapists within the pathway to provide first specialist assessments. This has been tested effectively across 12 districts.
