44325 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What actions, if any, have been taken in the quarter (January to March 2024) to implement the recommendation ‘where it is practical, patients will be offered opportunities to get their surgical planned care outside district. This already happens in some areas’ as part of Te Whatu Ora Planned Care Taskforce Reset and Restore Plan?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the January to March 2024 quarter, additional funding was announced for patients to receive care outside of their surgical planned care district. Where it is possible for a patient to travel, patients are supported by the National Travel Assistance Scheme. To help address inequity of access, reporting on waitlists includes patient ethnicity.
