Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What actions, if any, have been taken in the quarter (January to March 2024) to implement the recommendation ‘Engage with Private sector to secure marginal capacity’ as part of Te Whatu Ora Planned Care Taskforce Reset and Restore Plan?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised during the January to March 2024 quarter, Health New Zealand(Health NZ) engaged with the private sector at a district and regional level to secure marginal capacity where it is available and as resource allows. A recent example of this was in securing additional services through the Mobile Surgical Services contract, where Health NZ was able to identify and fund 191 additional caseweights when marginal capacity became available.
