44299 (2024). Hon Rachel Brooking to the Minister for Food Safety: On the proposal to introduce a new flat rate Food Act levy to fund 'Systems auditing', is his officials' summary of submissions correct when it says 62% of submitters did not agree with the need for the proposed service, 38.58% were unsure, and 12.6% agreed, given this would total 113.18%?
Hon Andrew Hoggard: I refer the member to the response for WPQ 44409 (2024). The consultation document asked respondents if they agreed food businesses and food importers benefited from system auditing, and, if they supported the funding level for the service. As submitters could support the need for the service but disagree with paying for the service total responses added to over 100 percent. The responses to the proposed funding level for system audit services (only) are outlined below: • Agree with the proposal; o 10.8 percent • Not agree with the proposal; and o 62.7 percent • Not sure o 26.5 percent
