Hon Louise Upston: The specific details of the decisions that will be made under the Modernisation Bill are still in development. All decisions in the Modernisation Amendment Bill that the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) will use Automated Decision-Making for will be simple rules-based decisions and align with the safeguards outlined in the Social Security Act 2018 and MSD’s Automated Decision-Making Standard. A rules-based decision does not require any exercise of judgement to determine the appropriate action.
