44289 (2025). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister of Health: What steps, if any, does the Ministry or Minister plan to take to reduce preventable deaths for Māori?
Hon Simeon Brown: As part of our focus on putting patients first and ensuring all New Zealanders have access to timely, quality healthcare, our Government has delivered a record investment in health - an additional $16.68 billion over three Budgets. I am advised that Health New Zealand has a number of programmes aimed at reducing preventable death, including Immunising Our Tamariki, the Sudden Unexpected Death in Infancy programme, the Suicide Prevention programme, and, importantly, delivering services more broadly to achieve our Government's health targets.
