44267 (2025). Arena Williams to the Acting Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (Grocery Sector): What measures, if any, has the Commerce Minister taken to address misleading prices in the grocery sector?

Hon Nicola Willis: Supermarket pricing accuracy and accountability is a priority. Together with Minister Simpson, we've undertaken targeted consultation on strengthening enforcement tools in the Fair Trading Act 1986 to better protect consumers from unfair conduct like misleading pricing. Proposed changes will be considered by Cabinet in due course. I have also written to major supermarket chains regarding misleading pricing practices to reinforce their legal obligations.
