Hon Penny Simmonds: The updated negotiating mandate does not reference New Zealand’s 2050 climate commitments. New Zealand is advocating for an instrument that is complementary to existing multilateral environmental agreements, recognising that due to its pervasive and transboundary nature, plastic pollution is interlinked with other environmental challenges.
