44239 (2024). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister of Health: How, if at all, will the Minister look to support Māori healthcare workers who experience racism?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: Racism in our healthcare sector is not acceptable. All interpersonal relationships need to start from a position of respect. I am advised that support is already increasing in Health New Zealand with the embedding of Te Mauri o Rongo | the NZ Health Charter into all position descriptions and draft key people policies (Code of Conduct, and anti-bullying policies). I am further advised that a foundational e-learning resource for Te Mauri o Rongo has been created. I am also advised that there remain existing avenues available to raise any concerns via the Health and Disability Commissioner and respective colleges.
