44235 (2024). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Associate Minister of Health: Does the Minister stand by her statement “The balance we need to strike is that we don’t want young people addicted to nicotine. New Zealand didn’t have any regulations around vaping until too late and youth vaping got out of hand”, if so, what steps have or will be taken to ensure that vaping and tobacco products are less appealing to youth, if any?
Hon Casey Costello: Yes. Shortly, I will be introducing a bill intended to crackdown on youth vaping. This will contain measures such as banning disposable vapes, significantly increasing the penalties for retailers that sell to youth, and reducing the visibility of vaping products so that they are not visible from the street, or instore in retailers where young people may enter
