Kahurangi Carter to the Associate Minister of Justice: What advice, reports, briefings, or any other document, if any, did the Minister receive on the potential for increase or decrease in harm from the Governments proposed changes to alcohol laws since January 1 2025, listed by title and date?

Hon Nicole McKee: Any advice I receive on the alcohol regulatory system includes, by default, some consideration of the potential for harm. This is because the object of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 includes that the harm caused by the excessive or inappropriate consumption of alcohol should be minimised. I refer the Member to table 1, attached, which includes all relevant advice and documents I have received from the Ministry of Justice on the regulation of the sale and supply of alcohol in the timeframe you have requested.
