44143 (2024). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Education: What, if any, actions in the Learning Support Action Plan 2019-2025 have occurred since November 2023?
Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) that the Learning Support Action Plan 2019-2025 (LSAP) was introduced in 2019 to drive progress towards an education system where all learners are welcome and their achievement, progress, wellbeing, and participation is valued and supported.
Significant progress on the LSAP been made since it was launched. Many actions from the LSAP have been completed or adapted into ongoing work. Due to changes in education priorities, some actions have since been discontinued.
I have a priority to target effective learning support interventions for students with additional needs. I have asked the Ministry to develop a new work programme to deliver on this priority. This will strengthen the learning support system so we can respond better to the needs of learners and their families through evidence-based approaches and targeted investment for equitable educational outcomes.
