43967 (2024). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister of Agriculture: Has he seen advice from the Climate Change Commission that “there is also a slow-release bolus methane inhibitor in development that could be better suited to reducing methane emissions from domestic dairy production. Our evidence suggests that these may not be available commercially until 2039…” and if so, what evidence, if any, has he seen that supports a methane inhibitor being available for dairy in 2027, and who produced this advice?
Hon Todd McClay: I am aware of reports from the Climate Change Commission in respect of mitigation technologies.
I am advised that assumptions in respect of methane inhibitors in the recently released draft Emission Reduction Plan were produced by my officials following extensive interaction with research and mitigation technology experts.
